Joshua is recipient of a two year, renewable scholarship up to $15,000 to cover tuition at Bates Community College where\u00a0he plans to attend the Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology program in the fall of 2017.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>During the application process, Joshua, along with the other candidates, visited GTC\u2019s Freightliner Northwest location in Pacific, WA to tour the Service Department and meet with the Service Manager. Students also participated in two rounds of interviews before the final selection was made.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoshua has true passion for diesel technology, demonstrated a work ethic and level of professionalism that were beyond our expectations for a high school student,\u201d says Kim Betts, HR Generalist at GTC. \u201cAdditionally, he has a financial need that would delay attending school if it weren\u2019t for this scholarship.\u00a0 We were very fortunate in finding such a great candidate for our first recipient and Joshua is someone that has the ability to go far in this industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSupporting our local students in their pursuit of a career in diesel technology makes sense for our family and our industry,\u201d said Scott Gordon, GTC President. \u201cWe are very proud of Joshua and eager to see where his career takes him in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>GTC announced the first ever <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freightlinernorthwest.com\/news\/gtc-is-funding-a-2-year-renewable-diesel-tech-scholarship\/\">two-year renewable diesel technology scholarship <\/a>of up to $15,000 for graduating high school seniors in the Sumner, WA school district earlier this year.
